Welcome to Māori
Kia ora tātou - greetings everyone. Nau mai - welcome.
The study of Te reo Māori has become an increasingly popular subject option and is increasingly seen as central to education in New Zealand, both as the proportion of people with Māori ancestry grows and as the country strives to define its place in the world as a Pacific nation. Many students choose to learn Te reo Māori to find and explore their identity as New Zealanders. Also, many employers now see Te reo Māori as a valuable asset in rapidly changing workforce.
Te manu ka kai i te miro, nona te ngahere. Te manu ka kai i te matauranga, nona te ao. The bird that partakes of the berry, his is the forest. The bird that partakes of knowledge, his is the world.
