Welcome to Social Studies
Social Studies helps students to understand their world and gives them the skills and knowledge to play their part in society. Social Studies education aims to enable students to participate in a changing society as informed, confident and effective citizens.
Teachers provide a balanced perspective of bicultural, multicultural, gender, current issues and future. Students are encouraged to take an active interest in current issues/events. Some examples of topics taught are: Our Kiwi Identity, Leave Only Footprints(Eco-Tourism), Treaty of Waitangi, Monarchy versus Republic (NZ Government), The Holocaust, The 1960’s.
