Kapa Haka

PolyFest is the main goal for our kapa groups this year. Year 12 students Savanah Kamura, deLilah Tamatea, Meihana Kewene-Masina and Aliyah Tautuhi are our tutors that lead kapa haka on Wednesday afternoons. This year our senior kapa haka group are joining forces with Logan Park High Scool. We will be performing a combined item at PolyFest in September at the Edgar Centre.

For the first time, our Year 7 & 8 Kavanagh College students will also be performing at PolyFest. They will be showcasing waiata (songs) and haka that they have learned over the course of the year.

The kapa haka group are called upon regularly to support events such as mihi whakatau (formal welcomes), sports exchanges, school assemblies, school prize-givings, ngā manu kōrero (national speech competition) and various marae-based events.
