NCEA Level 2 with Achievement Standards

Entry Requirement

The following is highly recommended:

Either: “Achieved” or better in  L1 Physical Education  Achievement Standards 1.2, 1.5 and 1.6,

Or: for those without NCEA Level 1 Physical Education, NCEA L1 Science and English grades will be considered as pre-requisites, as well as an interview with Mr Harris.

Cost

Approximately $250 contributes to course costs of 3 day mountain biking expedition, hot yoga and gym sessions.

 

Course Outline

This course is 50% theory and 50% practical

  • Learning to learn – Anatomy, Biomechanics and Motor Learning, Sports Psychology
  • Learning to Train - Aspects of fitness, principles and methods of training, exercise physiology.
  • Super Coach – Learning leadership strategies. Coaching kiwisport.
  • Safe Mountain Biking – Outdoor education and risk management. Mountain biking expedition.
  • Netball - performance in Netball.

Assessment

Internals- Physical Education is 100% internally assessed.

AS 91333 - Analyse the application of risk management strategies to a challenging outdoor activity - 3 credits

AS 91328 - Demonstrate understanding of how and why biophysical principles relate to the learning of physical skills - 5 credits

AS 91329 - Demonstrate understanding of the application of biophysical  principles to training for physical activity - 4 credits

AS 91330 - Perform a physical activity in an applied setting - 4 credits

AS 91332 - Evaluate leadership strategies that contribute to the effective functioning of a group - 4 credits

AS 91334 - Consistently demonstrate social responsibility through applying a social responsibility model in physical activity - 3 credits
