Course Outline

This course is a combination of theory and practical work which enables students to become active viewers, analysts, and producers of media.

Achievement Standards

AS  91252    -Produce a design and plan for a developed media product using a range of conventions    (4 credits)

AS 91253    - Complete a developed media product from a design and plan using a range of conventions    (6 credits)

 

The following Unit Standards are also offered, and any combination can be studied.

US 27611 – Demonstrate understanding of current events and journalism (4 credits)

US 27613 – Write and present news stories intended for publication (4 credits)

US 27615 – Take and select photographs for a news story and feature (3 credits)

US 27612 – Plan and conduct interviews for a news story or feature (4 credits)

US 27610 – Demonstrate basic understanding of news stories and the role of journalists (4  credits)

 

Externals

AS 91248    - Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between a media product and its audience.     3 credits

AS 91251    - Demonstrate understanding of an aspect of a media genre    3 credits

 

The six external credits contribute towards UE literacy-reading and writing
