Entry Requirement

Recommended “Achieved” grades in Year 10 Design & Visual Communication.

Cost

Students will be responsible for the purchase of all equipment and the purchase of additional drawing paper throughout the year as they require it.  Students can expect additional charges where specific requests for card, paper, and colour copying or other materials are made.

Course Outline

The course provides a variety of challenging and creative opportunities for students who are keen on design drawing, CAD and Visual Communication.  Learning will focus on:

  • Product design, drawing and illustration
  • Spatial design and influential designers
  • Promotion and communication of ideas

Emphasis is on design, design principles and problem-solving. Various techniques are taught including two and three-dimensional drawing, computer aided design, 3D model making and using illustrative and presentation media.

Assessment

Students will present all evidence for assessment in a portfolio format. Student evidence for external assessment will be drawn from the portfolio work presented for internal assessments throughout the year.

A.S.92000 Generate product or spatial design ideas using visual communication techniques in response to design influences. 5 Credits

A.S.92001 Use representation techniques to visually communicate own product or spatial design outcome.  5 Credits

External

A.S. 92003 Use instrumental drawing techniques to communicate own product or spatial design outcome. Credits 5
