NCEA Level 2 with Achievement Standards
Entry Requirement
Highly recommended 14 credits from L1 Design and Visual Communication or HOD approval must be gained if minimum of 14 credits at Level one not attained.
Cost
Students will be responsible for the purchase of all equipment and of additional drawing paper throughout the year as they require it.
Basic modelling and display materials will be provided. Students can expect additional charges where specific requests for card, paper, and colour copying or other materials are made.
Course Outline
The course provides a variety of challenging and creative opportunities for students who are keen on design and drawing. Learning modules focused on:
- Product design
- Spatial design
- Design movement and Eras
Emphasis is on design, design principles and technological problem solving. Various techniques will be encouraged including two and three dimensional drawing, computer aided design, 3D model making and the use of a range of illustrative and presentation media.
Assessment
Students will present all evidence for assessment in a portfolio format. Student evidence for external assessment will be drawn from the portfolio work presented for internal assessments throughout the year.

AS 91341 - Develop a spatial design through graphics practice - 6 credits
AS 91342 - Develop a product design through graphics practice - 6 credits
AS 91343 - Use visual communication techniques to compose a presentation of design - 4 credits
