Course Outline

This course is designed as a Two year course – there is a Year A and Year B. The content in each year is different and students may choose to study this subject for two years or only one year.  This course gives students some insight into New Zealand’s second largest export being Tourism.  

It can lead to The National Certificate in Tourism (Introductory Skills) L2

US 18237   Perform calculations for a Tourism workplace    3 credits

US 24729    Demonstrate knowledge of world tourist destinations         4 credits

US 18228    Demonstrate knowledge of specific New Zealand regions as a tourist destination    2 credits

US 24731    Demonstrate knowledge of destination New Zealand    4 credits

Internal L3 Unit Standards

US 3727   Demonstrate knowledge of Pacific Island countries as visitor destinations    5 credits

US 17384    List and use a range of te reo Maori greetings and farewells in tourism    3 credits

US 18211    Demonstrate knowledge of Australia as a visitor destination    5 credits

Where Does It Lead

This qualification builds on and leads to either a Tertiary  Qualification e.g. Bachelor of Tourism or a work based qualification and experience.
