Cricket Term 1 2022 At Kavanagh College

Kavanagh College has teamed up with Taieri College to enter a cricket team into the Saturday Morning Dunedin Cricket Competition. Each school has contributed six players to the team. The team has come together very well and has won four out of their five games to date. The college has some very talented cricketers, and it is great to see opportunities for all our players. The team consists of Joe Peters, Jackson Hamilton, Jack Waterworth, Angus Tait, Connor Hall, and Daniel Thompson.

Some highlights of the season to date are Joe Peters 72 vs Kings HS on Saturday 12th March, Angus Tait 52 not out vs Green Island. Jackson Hamilton has chimed in with some useful scores and opens the bowling very effectively. Daniel Thompson is tidy behind the stumps as the wicketkeeper as well as scoring some useful runs, and Jack Waterworth and Connor Hall have been excellent in the field and bowled some tidy overs when called upon.

The team has also played a game against Taieri College Colts on Monday 14th March in a T20 fixture competing very well and restricting Taieri to 123. Jackson Hamilton and Joe Peters were the best of the bowlers. In reply Kavanagh came up 15 runs short with Joe Peters and Jackson Hamilton again in the runs.

The team is also playing an Interschool against St Kevin’s on Friday 25 March which they are really looking forward to.

Thanks to Mark Hamilton who is the manager of the team and to Mike Waterworth who umpires each week, it is very much appreciated.

I would also like to acknowledge Ravija Alakahoon and Lachie Tait who also play regular Saturday cricket and have been performing well.

Finally, it is great to see cricket gaining momentum again and we look forward to continued success.
