Alumni Congratulations

Exciting news on the cricket front with the selection of former Kavanagh College student Michael Bracewell for the Black Caps series against the Netherlands.

Michael's older brother James was a student here too and their father Mark a highly respected Year Eight teacher and outstanding cricket coach. Michael was also Kavanagh College's Deputy Head Boy in 2008.

Michael and James were members of the Kavanagh First XI that was the first, and so far only, Kavanagh team to win the regional Gillette Cup tournament for Otago/Southland secondary school supremacy - traditionally very much the domain of the boys' schools.

While our founding schools have national cricketers as part of their alumni - notably Frank Cameron (Christian Brothers High School), Stephen Boock (St Pauls High School) and Catherine Campbell (Moreau College), Michael is Kavanagh's first.

Congratulations to the Bracewell family.
