Covid, Influenza and Mask Use

We are aware that Covid-19 is still having an impact on families and confirmed cases in school continue to be reported daily – thank you for the great communication.

We are also conscious of influenza beginning to have an impact in Dunedin. We still have a number of staff at home with covid, influenza or as household contacts. As we move into winter, students and staff are inside more, and viruses will spread more easily.

Although masks are no longer mandated by the government, we still expect all students to bring one to school, and teachers will ask for them to be worn in classes. Just like for our uniform expectations, staff are able to insist that in their classroom students follow the class expectations. Many of our staff have vulnerable family members who they want to keep safe.

Please talk with your children about respecting the health of others and remember to use their masks when required at school.
