Thai visitors to our school

On March 21st, we welcomed 21 students and three teachers from Suankularb Wittayalai School in Bangkok, Thailand, plus their agents from Supreme Business Centre.

These students had a great time joining classes in years 9 and 10 and getting to know NZ culture in their ESOL classes with Simon Edmunds. The group were introduced to the school in a Mihi Whakatau and in their time at Kavanagh they have learned a waiata, haka and visited a marae, so they have had an important cultural and educational experience that was very different from their home countries.

In Otago they also sailed on the harbour, played laser strike, went on a trip to Queenstown and went gold panning. The boys thought that Kavanagh was a friendly place and they appreciated the way that their homestays made them feel at home and also the chance to make kiwi friends. They returned to Bangkok at Easter and we hope to see them again.
