Caritas Day

On Tuesday, May 7th, all Catholic schools in the Dunedin and Mosgiel area will take part in a Caritas Day

For Kavanagh College this will involve having only a piece of bread, supplied by the College, for lunch and students and staff are asked to donate the money they would have spent on lunch to Caritas. Money will be collected during tutor time by prefects.

Students have also come up with the initiative of including a no technology day at the same time. We would ask parents to support this idea outside school hours as well. The idea is to experience what life would be like if we did not live in this country, and experience some of the lifestyle many people live, when they do not have technological aides at their finger tips.

Caritas, for 2019, is working with the people in South Sudan. Students in years 7-10 have been looking at the life and needs of the people in this region during their Social Studies classes.
