Uniform Tie or no Tie?

Greetings, Kia ora, Talofa, Mālō e lelei

As part of the uniform refresh the College will be surveying both students and parents around the wearing of a tie. The survey asks if the wearing of a tie should be compulsory for each of the following groups – junior girls, junior boys, senior girls, senior boys. This survey will be emailed out today and we would like to hear your views before Friday 28th June.

Wear it well – most do! The way our young people look, when they are out at the shops or mall and on the streets in their uniforms, has an impact on the way people, especially employers, think about students from Kavanagh College. In some ways all our young people get tarred with the same brush no matter what skills they have to offer.

It is about mind set. We want our young people to believe they can attain what they are capable of achieving. It starts with personal responsibility - for yourself, your image and your actions. Having a uniform creates an identity for a school. It’s part of our brand and we want Kavanagh College’s brand to be highly regarded. Furthermore, we want our brand to work favourably for our students.

We have a wonderful uniform and one that is instantly recognisable, so please take this opportunity talk to your daughter or son and encourage them to wear it with pride and wear it well.

Staff have been busy working on the Year 7 – 10 reports which will be issued to students on Friday 5th July. Also, a reminder to parents of students in Year 11 – 13 that Parent Teacher Interviews are being held in the first week of term on Thursday 25th July. Instructions on how to book are in this newsletter. We would encourage students to attend these with you.

The Year 12 & 13 students who attended the College Formal at the Town Hall last Friday had a great night and were a credit to themselves and the College. Their behaviour was exemplary and was commented on very favourably by the staff at the Town Hall.

Enjoy some family time in the weekend.

God Bless
