The More FM Arena will be hosting the annual Māori and Pasifika Performing Arts Festival next week.

Tēnā koutou katoa - Greetings everyone.

PolyFest is an incredible community event that celebrates cultural diversity. By far one of the biggest events in the South Island, PolyFest this year, sees a record number of early childhood, primary and secondary schools participate.

Here at Kavanagh College, we have two groups ready to the raise the roof! Next Wednesday, our Kapa Haka group, He Whētu Tīrama, (A shining star) will take the stage at 7.45pm. On Thursday evening, Pasifika Vibes take the stage at 8.00pm bringing the energy and beautiful flavours from the Pacific Islands. Both groups have been working very hard over the past three months and are sounding and looking amazing.

Last weekend, the library was transformed into a whare nui where both groups had a successful noho kura (school sleepover) to rehearse for the event.

A huge thank you to the teachers, tutors, parents and students who have put in the hard yards for this year's campaign. We would love your company for both performances! If you can't make it on the night, be sure to watch the live stream. Mā te Atua koe e tīaki - May God be with you.
