HE WHĒTU TĪRAMA SHINE AT POLYFEST

Last night at PolyFest our kapa haka group, He Whētu Tīrama, delivered a stunning performance.

Packed with emotion, polish and flare, the group which mainly consists of Year 7 & 8 students, performed beautifully. The opening waiata Te Piki Kōtuku was our dedication song. We remember with love those people in our school community that have passed away. Portraits of Karaka Roberts (grandfather of tutor Piata Rāpata-Hanning), Mr O'Brien, Peter Sewell and Ana Qimaqima were displayed. The next songs were Aue Te Aroha and Whakataka te Hau. The bracket finished with the mighty Kavanagh College school haka!

On behalf of the group, I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this year's PolyFest campaign, especially our tutors Piata, Keisha Su'a and guitarist (and old boy), Masin Kewene-Masina. Thanks also to Mrs de Graaf, Miss Henderson, Miss King and Mr Wolfreys for their fantastic support. Last but not least, to the students - you should be very proud of what you have achieved. Thank you for all of the hard work you put in. You are all amazing people.Nāku iti, nā
