The Kavanagh College Senior A Girls' Basketball team are the National 2019 A Grade Champions
The team competed for four days in Palmerston North against the top qualifiers from the North and South Island.
They were second in their pool and so faced Mercury Bay, a team known for their defence and athleticism. This match up brought out the best in all our team.
The final, which was televised live, was against Te Aroha College. The girls struggled with some nerves early on but then their superior teamwork and tactics became evident. The final score was 68-54. You can view the game here https://www.facebook.com/basketballnz/videos/1320058981488111/
Annabelle Ring was named MVP for the tournament and Dre Whaanga, Kyra McEntyre and Annabelle were named in the tournament team.
