Two more of our lead characters for Grease are regular features in our Kavanagh Musicals. Sam and Emily are thrilled to participate in their last Kavanagh Musical as Kenickie and Rizzo.
Sam Meikle has been involved in Kavanagh Musicals since Year 7. Now Year 13 this is his seventh and final production. He started out in 2014 with A Dream To Share, before moving on to Oliver! Other musicals that Sam has been involved in are The Wizard of Oz, Bugsy Malone, Beauty and the Beast and Annie.
Sam describes Kenickie as one of those stereotypical cool guys at this ‘60s high school. He is obsessed with keeping up appearances and constantly is arrogant and rude in the hopes he looks cool - he is also the owner of infamous Greased Lightning car, which is another bid to try show off. Sam is looking forward to the intensity of show week and creating his final memories of Kavanagh Musicals.
Emily Kerr-Bell has been involved in three musicals during her time at Kavanagh, in the ensemble for Oliver, Belle in Beauty and The Beast, Miss Hannigan in last years Annie. She is super excited to have the edgy role of Rizzo this year.
Emily describes Rizzo as the leader of the Pink Ladies. She is tough, sarcastic and outspoken but vulnerable. She is very excited to start rehearsing all of the really well-known Grease music and the big chorus numbers such as, “Summer Nights”, “Grease Lightening” and “We go together”. Emily thinks that all of the people involved with the musicals are such awesome people, so she is particularly looking forward to working with them!
