Sam received Excellence for his 2019 Level Three Printmaking folio as well as having his folio selected to tour New Zealand in 2020 with the Secondary schools Top Art Show.

This is a prestigious opportunity for Sam as well as recognition for the hard work that he had made with his art throughout 2019. This year, Sam has moved to Wellington to study in the Arts and Design fields at Massey University.

Sam’s work explores concepts of authoritarianism and personal freedom within political contexts, including freedom of speech, control and surveillance. He was inspired by a diverse range of ideas and printmaking conventions, for example, the Hong Kong riots in 2019, Japanese cartoons, contemporary and traditional Japanese woodblock techniques and German Expressionist printmaking.

Due to Covid-19, this show will only feature online until further notice. The following link to the NZQA face book page, features Sam’s work.
