ST BRIGID'S SCHOOL VISIT

Connecting and collaborating with our Kāhui Ako schools has been one of the objectives of our school visits. It has been wonderful to go into our Catholic primary schools with former students (now Year 7 Kavanagh College tauira) and seeing them reconnect with former teachers and students and carry out leadership roles. On Monday afternoon, we visited St Brigid's School in Tainui with former tauira Hollie Maloney, Ashlyn Bennett, Katie Stoff, Lucas Burdett, Alasdair Maclean and Samuel Bingley.

The first classroom we visited was Room 4 with bubbly Year 1 teacher Miss Carmel Wassell. Katie Stoff captivated the children with Taniwha by Robin Kahukiwa and Samuel Bingley read Battle of the Mountains by Peter Gossage (including sounds effects!) very well.Going into Room 2 and seeing the stunning pēpeha artwork with teacher Mrs Deb Charleson was a highlight. The students were respectful and vibrant as Alasdair Maclean and Lucas Burdett read stories and entertained the class. It was great to catch up with the Year 5 and 6 students of Room 1 who visited our college for Te rā nui ki waho (The big day out) at the start of this term.

A big thank you to principal, Mr Andrew Pozniak, staff and students for a marvelous visit. Our next school visit is to St Joseph's Port Chalmers.
