The library is offering students summer holiday reading bags to encourage students to read and improve literacy levels.
Studies in New Zealand and overseas have shown that students literacy levels can slide over summer. The library wants to combat this by offering a bag with a selection of books, based on the student's preferences, to be issued for the summer holidays. We want to maximise our collection and have books in students homes where they can be read rather than gathering dust on our shelves.
The bags and books will need to be returned early term 1 2021. A big thank you to The Dunedin Public Library for providing us with reusable bags and to The University Bookshop for providing us with vouchers to include. Any student is welcome to a bag of summer reading. Come into the library and fill out a form outlining your book preferences, give it to Mrs Mahoney and we will put a bag together for you. You are most welcome to pick your own books too. Any questions please email me firstname.lastname@example.org
