Tobias Devereux - Topping off an extraordinary year

Tobias gained Scholarship in Mathematics with Statistics in 2017. This was a phenomenal achievement for a Year 9 student. He gained Level Two NCEA with Excellence endorsed due to following his passion for mathematics. Tobias studied level 1 Mathematics as a Year 6 student, in Year 7 achieved Level 2 Mathematics with Excellence, Year 8 he achieved Level 3 Calculus, with excellence. As a Year 9 student Tobias studied Year 13 Statistics achieving excellence and Year 13 Scholarship Statistics with success. This is a phenomenal achievement, however, Tobias excels beyond Mathematics.

 Last year alone he made the Kavanagh Wall of Fame for achieving ICAS English Mathematics and Science High Distinction Award (top 1% NZ & Pacific) Robotics 1st in Senior Theatre, NZ National RoboCup Competition Informatics High Distinction in Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (Australian Maths Trust) Mathematics 1st in Year 9 in NZ for the Junior Maths Competition Prize in the Australian Maths Competition (top 0.3% in NZ) Top 100 in NZ in the Senior Maths Competition. 

Tobias has been a member of the Kavanagh ‘OC’ class. Tobias is a musician and plays in the school orchestra, the school Jazz band and the school show band. He dances and is also a formidable football and futsal player. Tobias has embraced every opportunity provided and yet is a humble young man working alongside his peers.
