Netball Players

Just a reminder to all netballers the importance of representing your school. Here at Kavanagh College we have worked really hard with developing our players and have great coaches and resources available to shape our netballers into amazing young athletes.

It has come to our attention that players have been informed they can play for a netball club team instead of school and this is not the case. Dunedin Netball has policies in place to enable the best opportunities for players.

Dunedin Netball competition rule of dual school/club membership in our regulations:

  • Secondary players (from Senior A teams) wanting to extend their netball by playing club, can have a joint application put forward by the school and club.
  • This also means, secondary players can not play for just club (they have to be also playing for their Senior A team, have put in a joint application and be approved by Dunedin Netball)

43. Dual School/Club Membership - Notwithstanding regulation 9a, a Member Secondary School and a Member Club may make a joint application to the Board twenty one (21) days prior to the closure of registration of the team list requesting that a school player from a Senior A School Team (“School Team”) be registered to a Member Club in addition to the School Team. The decision about such a request shall be at the sole discretion of the Board. Where any fixtures of the School Team and the Member Club clash, the School Team shall have priority unless the Member Secondary School and the Member Club have mutually agreed otherwise and such agreement has been approved by the Board.

Any players looking to only play for club have been misinformed. There is a provision as described in the regulations above for a  Senior A player to apply to the Dunedin Netball board for Dual School/Club Membership however their school team takes priority.

If this applies to you please see Anita urgently to ensure you can continue to play Netball this season.
