Hockey Season gets underway

The girls kicked off the season in fine form, absolutely dominating the opposition in a 5-1 win over Queens. Gabby Snell scored a hat trick, with Sophie Wallis and Brigid Corson claiming the other goals. These three worked in well with the younger girls to put together a fantastic team effort. Across the board Kavanagh dominated keeping keeper Keyra Webb unemployed for the second half. After a season of one win last year, this is such a pleasing way to start 2018.

The boys debut in Division One was always going to be a challenge, up against OBHS 1sts. We competed in all areas but were done for ball speed and vision at times. Hunter Burke’s first game in goal proved he is the man for the future with lots of action and great saves. Sam Beckwith delivered on the promise of some good runs in Gore to have his best game in a Kavanagh uniform. The Year 9 boys didn’t take a backward step, against larger and more skilled opposition. This is going to a tough couple of weeks but the lads will be better for it.
