Greetings, Kia ora, Talofa, Malo e lei

Ka mihi nui o te tau hou koutou katoa - Happy Maori New Year everyone.

The Year 12 & 13 students who attended the College Formal at the Town Hall last Friday had a great night and were a credit to themselves and the College. Their behaviour was exemplary and was commented on very favourably by the staff at the Town Hall.

This year’s Musical is coming together nicely after many hours of hard work from the cast and technical crew supported by the staff and directors. Bugsy Malone opens Wednesday 5th July and runs until Friday 7th July. The Wednesday and Thursday shows start at 6 pm to ensure the enjoyment of the younger audience. The final show on Friday 7th July will start at 7 pm. All shows are in the Kavanagh Auditorium. Tickets will be on sale from the Bursars office at Kavanagh College before school (from 8.15am each day). Adults $18 and Seniors/students $10. With a limited number of shows, tickets will sell quickly so be in fast to avoid disappointment.

Tickets go on sale in the School Foyer next week

Wear it well – most do! The way our young people look, when they are out at the shops or mall and about on the streets in their uniforms, has an impact on the way people, especially employers, think about students from Kavanagh College. In some ways all our young people get tarred with the same brush no matter what skills they have to offer.

It is about mind set. We want our young people to believe they can attain what they are capable of achieving. It starts with personal responsibility - for yourself, your image and your actions. Having a uniform creates an identity for a school. It’s part of our brand and we want Kavanagh College’s brand to be highly regarded. Furthermore we want our brand to work favourably for our students.

We have a wonderful uniform and one that is instantly recognisable, so please take this opportunity talk to your daughter or son and encourage them to wear it with pride and wear it well.

Staff have been busy working on the Year 7 – 10 reports which will be issued to students on Friday 7th July. Also a reminder to parents of students in Year 11 – 13 that Parent Teacher Interviews are being held in the first week of the term on Thursday 27th July. Instructions on how to book are in this Newsletter. We would encourage students to attend these with you.

A reminder that our Open Day is coming up on Sunday 6th August from 2:00pm-4:00pm. The day is for incoming and prospective students and parents to Kavanagh College, and is to welcome everyone to Kavanagh College, provide information about the school, and begin our enrolment process. Most current students will be at school helping out on the day so please keep it free.

Enjoy some family time in the weekend.

God Bless
