Kavanagh's Senior Boys Basketball team are experiencing a successful season. They recently had a very famous 'guest' coach for their Friday night game.

Kavanagh's Senior Boys Basketball team are experiencing an improved and successful season competing in the Secondary School's A Grade competition. They have already won more games than all of last season, they competed strongly in the Catholic School's tournament, and they won the recent Dunedin Coed Schools Tournament.

The team recently had a very famous 'guest' coach for their Friday night game against John Macglashan White team. In the absence of regular coach Natalie Visger, the team was coached by All Black captain Sam Whitelock. Pete Gallagher (the father of Year 11 player Gabe) is the All Black Physiotherapist and arranged for Sam to come to the game and coach the team when they were in town for the All Black vs France test match. As well as being an outstanding rugby player, Sam is an excellent and knowledgeable basketballer.

For the record Sam coached the team to a good win!
