A win for both our Girls and Boys teams

Girls
The girls took on Logan Park High School 1sts in an epic encounter based around our attack and their defence. A particularly good goalie and a rock solid defence proved tricky to for us to navigate around. Numerous attacks were snuffed out by their fullbacks. A well-worked penalty corner saw us go one-nil up, and so it remained for the rest of the match. Our defence was also rock solid which kept keeper Keyra largely unemployed. We go into the term break with confidence restored, looking forward to the finals and a chance at the trophy!

Boys
After a hard practice that looked to iron out our passing and linking game, the lads took on Kings 2nds. We expected a hard match and the opening salvos were even before Nick Parata blew the game with four spectacular goals. Quinn Wilson joined the party after some nice linking and scored a nicely worked goal. Cody Paulsen and Sam Beckwith also opened their accounts for the year, scoring after some lovely moves up field. Absolute rock steady defence saw keeper Hunter not even touch the ball. 7-0 summed up a great team effort, with everyone getting involved. While the team enjoys a rest, Nick Parata is playing in the national U18 tournament in Dunedin. We wish him the best of luck. Get down to the turf and support Southern and enjoy some skilful hockey.
