Easter Greetings to you all

As we wrap up the term, I would like to thank all our parents and whānau who have supported us during term one. It has been a tricky one and I know that everybody is looking forward to some down-time during the next couple of weeks. Considering the complexity of the term just been, life has been settled at school. We have tried to maintain as many opportunities as possible for our young people while still working with the public health settings, and our teachers have been determined to continue teaching in a face-to-face mode as much as possible – even when classrooms felt like they had a revolving door of leaving and returning students! Thank you to our performing arts parent volunteers, our reader writers from the community, sports coaches, and managers; you have all contributed to us maintaining ‘as close to normal’ as possible.

We move into the Easter period and our students were treated to a poignant online liturgy yesterday at pastoral time. You can find this further in this newsletter. Some of our year 13s took part in the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral yesterday. This Mass is an annual event in Holy Week (the week before Easter) when all the priests of the diocese celebrate Mass together for the blessing of the chrism oils used during masses during Easter and throughout the year. Thank you to Father Vaughan Hook who led all year levels and staff through the rite of reconciliation during the last couple of weeks. This gave the opportunity to reflect on our impact on others and the ongoing challenge of being the best versions of ourselves.

For the start of next term, we will continue to have health and safety measures at school. After completing a risk assessment under the orange setting, we will let you know prior to school returning how we will continue to keep students and staff as safe as possible.

Students will move into winter uniform at the beginning of term two. Please ensure that the uniform regulations are well understood by your child and an article in this newsletter will clarify expectations for you.

Enjoy a happy, holy, and healthy Easter and I will leave you with this Easter Blessing:

May the glory and the promise of this joyous time of year bring peace and happiness to you and those you hold most dear. May Christ, Our Risen Saviour, always be there by your side to bless you most abundantly and be your loving guide.
