Head Girl - Elizabeth Audas

Kia ora, my name is Elizabeth Audas and I am honoured to be the Kavanagh Head Girl for 2019. I came to Kavanagh in 2015 when my family moved here from Canada. I have two brothers, Sam who is 18 and Ian who is 14. So that makes me the Stephanie Tanner or the middle child of my family.

I take a lot of pride in my academics as I believe that an education is one of the most powerful tools one can possess. With this being said, I also think extracurriculars are just as beneficial. I am passionate about speech and drama. This year I am working towards my Grade 8 certificate of speech and drama, along with being on the school’s debating team and being part of the musical. I am also on the school’s rowing and curling teams.

One of the things I have always loved about Kavanagh is the sense of community among the students and staff. Kavanagh is like a family, you truly feel a sense of belonging. Entering the senior school you can really see that seniors are keen to help out in the junior school, whether it’s peer support, buddies or even kicking a football around with the juniors - seniors are keen to give back to the Kavanagh community. This is particularly important to me because when I first moved here from Canada I knew virtually no one and was welcomed with open arms to the Kavanagh family.

This year I aim to encourage students to be involved in the school community whether its playing a sport, doing a cultural activity or joining a club and I also would like to inspire young women at Kavanagh to strive for excellence in their academics, on the sports field or in a cultural activity.

I am looking forward to the year ahead with my fabulous leadership team

God bless.
