Girls Rugby Off to Flying Start

Girls rugby started off with a hiss and a roar down at Logan Park on Wednesday night

We have a junior and senior team this year with a mix of experienced players and first timers.

The junior girls team had a tough first up game against St Hilda's A losing 40-14. They bounced back quickly to beat Logan Park by 50 points in their second game. There were some brilliant tries and fearless tackling by Jamaica Cabantoc and Shannya MacRae and Ruby LaHood was uncompromising.

The senior girls had two comfortable wins against Taieri and Queens. Jamie Church showed her class and experience and another highlight was Emma White, scoring a try in her first game.

This was an impressive start from both teams considering many girls were playing their first game of rugby. We are very lucky to have an excellent coach in Morgan Walker this year but we are in need of more players, so if there are any girls Year 9-13 that want to give rugby a go then see Mr Harris at school.
