Tēnā tātou katoa e ngā whānau

Kapa Haka is up and running this year. Practices are held weekly in the PAD every Tuesday from 3.10pm – 4.10pm. Matua Pesamino Tili and our senior students; Keisha Su’a, Siobhan Stevenson and Piata Rapata-Hanning are leading our practices. In addition to this Matua Lucas and our kapa members are teaching all the year 7-9 akomanga whānau our Kavanagh haka.

We are excited to be learning some new waiata. One of the waiata/ ngeri we are learning was composed by the late Godfrey Pōhatu. Nei te mihi maioha ki ō mātou kaiako o mua. Matua Tili and I are both previous students of Godfrey and Toroa Pōhatu. Our senior students also have great ideas for new waiata. We are also working on getting a new set of poi made for our kapa. New members are welcome. Nau mai, haere mai!

ngā mihi,

Maya Tate-Manning
