11PE Camp at Peel Forest (27th Feb-1st March)

Year 11 PE class travelled to Peel Forest on Monday to complete an assessment for NCEA.

The specific intent was to demonstrate and show understanding of responsible behaviours for safety during outdoor education activities.

We climbed to the top of Little Mt Peel on Monday. This was a very challenging tramp and students had to demonstrate excellent self-management skills. Everyone did exceptionally well and the majority of the students made it to the top. After the tramp we arrived at the Eco Lodge where we settled for two nights.

Tuesday was a super busy day packed with activities. Students learned about river safety and all of them have challenged themselves with abseiling down the very steep rock face. In the evening we had fun playing grid iron games, each student made their own wood fired pizza for dinner and we ended the night with a fun game of spot light.

We didn’t get to do the high ropes course on Wednesday as planned, but there were lots of smiley faces heading to McDonalds in Timaru instead.

All our students did extremely well and challenged themselves in all activities covered. Certainly, some tired students and teachers/parents at the end of it.
