Enviro-Hui

On the 16th of August, four students from each Enviro school around Otago were given the opportunity to go to an Enviro-Hui, an all day educational meeting.

We learnt about sustainable building, how to make sustainable concrete, solid foundations, and how to build a sustainable building that gives back to the environment. We got to try different techniques such as wattle and daub, cob, plastering and how to make adobe bricks.

After we learnt all the techniques we were asked to design something to improve our school while still being Environmentally friendly. The four students from Trinity came up with the idea of making a garden with a wall to protect the plants from the wind. We used cob and adobe bricks to make our model.

It was such a great experience and we learnt so much about sustainable building.
